We have two children who are both married and have two grandchildren. 

Our son played 4-5-6 Fun Hockey 26 years ago when it was 6 teams. 

We live on the same street as Brian and Lois and have become very good friends. As the league grew we offered our services to Brian and Lois, and Brian said "just deal with the jerseys”. 

And, so our role  began 8 years ago as Equipment Manager.

I am Lois Schatz, Brians wife of 41 years.  We have 3 sons who spent many hours of their young lives at the rink.

Brian and I tell the story a bit differently, but when our youngest son was just about 4 we put him in the 456 fun hockey league. He hated it. He sat on the ice and took his equipment off so we pulled him out. 

Back then there was only 6 teams, with huge waitlists; and if you weren't already in it was hard to get in.

The next year the league was sort of looking for someone to run it. How hard can that be? I said.  I figured if we run the league our kid can play. Well that was in 1996 and we have been at it ever since.

My role is significantly less than it was back then, but I write the cheques and look after trophies and the year end wind up. 

I am a retired nurse and spend my time with the grandkids, golfing, travel and pickleball.
